Recognizing Student Scholarship Recipients and Donors
The Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) honored scholarship recipients, donors, and friends at the second annual Celebration of Excellence Scholarship Recognition Dinner. Held on September 28 at the Radisson Hotel Westside, the event focused on the excellence found in the GSEP community. “This event is unique in the way it allows for the donors to GSEP’s general and named scholarships to meet the students they benefit by their financial support,” commented Marian Guirguis, executive director of career services and alumni relations. “And in turn the students can share their appreciation for the generosity they have received.”
Alma Cortez-Lara, a master of arts in education student and recipient of the Olaf H. Tegner Endowed Scholarship and Krystle Hays, a psychology doctoral student and recipient of the Gsep Diversity Scholarship both spoke about the gratitude they have towards GSEP’s faculty, and those who have helped to fund their tuition. “i remain deeply grateful to those whose philanthropy has made it possible for me receive my education and serve others,” said Krystle Hays.
Each of the 35 scholarship recipients received a certificate of recognition from Dean Margaret J. Weber, commemorating their scholarship award. The evening was a true celebration of all those who add to the excellence of GSEP and inspire service through leadership.
